A Song for Stolen Bikes: “There Goes an Asshole”

June 16th, 2007 by

This music video is absolutely fantastic. For all those of you who’ve had your bikes stolen, this is the song is for you. Gotta love the mopey indie rock stylings, how fitting.

Written and performed by Shank Bone Mystic, an artist from Brooklyn New York:

An exercise in catharsis, here is a song I wrote set to a video of a man stealing tires off my bike from outside my apartment in Brooklyn. Video is from neighborhood security cameras.

Best line in the song: “I can get new ties, but you’ll always be an asshole.” Well said, well said.

    Hey,

    Random question here…

I was pointed to your blog as the “authority on U of T”, my question for you is … I’m starting my masters at U of T this September, and am trying to settle on a neighbourhood to live. Which neighbourhood do most U of T students reside? I’m looking for a downtown area with a studenty vibe. Thanks for your help!

    Jane :)

    Hi Jane:

Wow, “authority on U of T”. I like the sound of that! I’ll have to quote that one!

However, a question like this seems to be better fitted for askastudent, the Q&A kingpins of U of T. I have submitted your question on your behalf to their organization.

A quick answer: I’d say pretty much everywhere near the University has a studenty vibe. Most of my friends live south of College or west of Spadina, mainly because there are more affordable apartments in these areas.
