This is the final part of a 6 part series about my personal experience with online dating. Click here to see other parts to this series.

So here we are at the big finale. I had set out to give online dating a test drive for one month. My time was almost up (this was in June, and I was leaving for Japan in July).

Let’s take a quick review. The bad: frustration at the difficulty of getting responses from girls. The good: the hilarious light-saber story, the fun of being an attention getting girl online, and of course, the prospect of a real life date. Things were looking more good than bad. However, let me warn you that the ending is rather anti-climactic.

Aaah, the familiar view of front campus (Make that soon-to-be familiar view for the frosh students.). Another school year kicks off with a flurry of activity.

What does the start of the school year entail? Well, consider this: the first few lectures cover introductory stuff, the profs are giving you time to get your text books, there are no laboratories and assignments… yet. So, logically, this is one of the best times of the year for you to go out, party, and generally have a good time. For the frosh students who are new, it’s a great idea to explore the campus and the city, get to know a few clubs and meet some new people.

Your college and residence probably have a slew of things going on. But the campus is huge, and well, we’re located in the very middle of the very happening city of Toronto. This all translates to a ton of fun stuff.

So, with that in mind, blogUT brings you our very own guide to some back to school fun. Check it out:

oUTreach 2007 – U of T reaches out to the community

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

If you were on campus during summer session final exam period, you probably noticed chalked up sidewalks with the word

Okay, that’s not a sidewalk, but it’s visible!

At the St. George Campus on the Saturday after Orientation/Frosh/F!rosh/Welcome Week, this year’s oUTreach event promises to be huge – over 2000 students, faculty, and staff are expected to participate in this community engagement event.

This day-long opportunity for community-building underscores the importance the University attaches to community service, allows participants the exposure to wide varieties of service opportunities available throughout the Greater Toronto Area, and brings together the University of Toronto community and the community agencies with whom we work.

If you want to fill your Saturday with an activity to do, meet new people, network with community agencies, or want to feel that warm fuzzy feeling when you contribute to your community (you may never feel it again when you’re bogged down with readings over the next few months!), then sign up for oUTreach today!

When: Saturday, September 8th. Sign-in at 9AM. Volunteering activities run until ~4PM.
Where: Participants will meet their team leaders at Varsity Centre. Teams will be travelling to various agencies throughout the GTA.
Details: Sign up as a participant here! Participants get a free shirt, free lunch (choose your own lunch), and hopefully some insight about their role as a contributor to positive social change.
