The World Press Photo 07 Exhibition is currently in Toronto, and if you have the chance, I highly recommend you take a trip down to see it. Admission is FREE and these images are really worth a look. You can get a taste by looking at some of the images at the bottom of this page.

The winning photo displayed above is usually given a caption along the lines of “a car filled with young, affluent Lebanese returning to their homes after several weeks of bombings in Beirut” (which is what BlogTO wrote). However, the real story of the photo is actually quite different from what you’d expect. It just goes to show that photos can mislead… even if they’re journalistic photos.

Nonetheless, some of the photos will absolutely shock and awe you. For example, this remarkable wedding portrait defies description (warning: not for the faint of heart).
