Toronto Japanese Short Film Festival
November 7th, 2007 by JP
The 5th Toronto Japanese Short Film Festival is running this Thursday November 8th to Sunday November 11th. All the screenings are conveniently located on campus at Innis Town Hall, and tickets are only $7 in advance.
There are 5 different programs in total, and each of program has two screening times, so you have two chances to catch the films you want to see. What kind of films will we see?
The theme of this year’s festival is Life is short, work hard! TJSFF offers 38 films and many of them treat the intense salarymen focus of modern Japanese culture. This theme is approached from many angles: examinations of business manner, battles for success, and life on the margins are just some of the subjects for the drama, satire and experimentation found throughout the 5 programs.
That’s an interesting and coincidentally relevant topic, seeing as how I’ve just spent a few months working in Japan. Looks like I’ll be checking out the festival. Hope to see you there too.
When: Thurs. Nov 8 to Sun. Nov 11. See detailed schedule here.
Where: Innis Town Hall (see directions)
Details: Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 at the door. For more details, see the TJSFF webpage.
