“Where You Lede: How To Pitch To Magazines” and “The Written Life”

UofT wants you to write like a pro. If you already do and plan on making this skill the essence of your career there is no better time to learn about the editorial/publishing world than the month of March.

The Varsity Newspaper is proud to present the journalism training serie “Where You Lede: How To Pitch To Magazines”. Guest speakers such as Eye Magazine critic Jason Anderson, Globe and Mail columnist Ivor Tossell, and Toronto Star reporter Sarah Barmak will be there to provide you with some useful tips on how to pitch to magazines.

When: Thursday, March 13, 5-7 p.m.

The Hart House Review wants you to learn how to take the place of the most distinguished veteran editors/writers in the Canadian publishing industry. In order to achieve this goal they suggest you to attend the event “The Written Life.” Cynthia Good(Creative Book Publishing Program), Ken Alexander (The Walrus magazine), and Anne Collins(Random House Canada) will be more than happy to enlight you on the process of becoming the next literary king (and evetually take their job).

When: Monday, March 17, 6:45-9:00 p.m.
Where: Hart House Library, Hart House, University of Toronto, 7 Hart House Circle.

    Are these events exclusive to U of Ters or are they open to the public?

    In my experience, U of T events are generally open to the public, although not specifically advertised as such.

    … you may want to contact the event organizers just to be sure… but I would just show up.
